We are delighted to welcome our upcoming speaker, Dr. James "Trey" Bateman, for our Grand Rounds session.

Title: “What's in a name? Diagnostic criteria for Alzheimer's disease in 2025”

Dr. Trey Bateman

Dr. James (Trey) Bateman is a Behavioral Neurologist with clinical and scholarly interests in neurodegenerative diseases. His research explores the impact of chronic psychosocial stress, allostatic load, and early neuropsychiatric symptoms on dementia risk. Dr. Bateman is also a dedicated educator, frequently presenting on topics relevant to cutting-edge advances in the diagnosis, management, and mechanistic underpinnings of dementia syndromes. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, also completing a residency in neurology at UNC, and pursued fellowships at the University of Colorado and the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center. Additionally, he holds an MPH in Healthcare and Prevention from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health. Dr. Bateman chairs the ANPA Dementia Special Interest Group and is a recipient of the prestigious ANPA Career Development Award.
